Hog Hunting

A hunter with a harvested hog at Boggy Creek Outfitters in Bivins, Texas

Our high-fence hog hunts take place in a contained, heavily wooded enclosure with a localized herd. Depending on conditions, guides may move through the cover to push the herd toward the hunter's direction and create an opportunity for a clean shot at one animal. Your guide can help you judge hog size in the field: a roughly 100-pound, knee-high hog is often preferred for meat quality, while a 300-pound boar is a different target best pursued intentionally as a trophy. Bring your own traditional centerfire rifle, bow, or crossbow, or ask about available rentals. Every hunt depends on animal movement and field conditions, so no harvest is guaranteed.

Hog Hunts with Dogs

Guide and trained hunting dogs on a wooded East Texas trail

A hog-dog hunt is a close, active pursuit led by experienced guides and trained dogs. The dogs track and bay the hog, then work with the guide to catch the target. Your guide explains the method, boundaries, safety expectations, and each hunter's role before entering the field. Availability depends on conditions, dogs, and scheduling, so confirm this method when reserving your dates.
