Question 1

Do I need my own gun or bow?

Accepted Answer

No. You are welcome to bring your own rifle, bow, crossbow, and gear, or ask about our on-site gun and bow rentals when you reserve your hunt. Equipment availability can vary, so please confirm current rental options with Joe Kennedy when booking.

Question 2

What hunting methods are available?

Accepted Answer

Available methods may include centerfire rifle, bow, crossbow, blind hunts, spot-and-stalk, and guided hog-dog hunts. The methods we use depend on the hunt, the season, and current conditions, so confirm what is available for your dates with Joe Kennedy.

Question 3

What is the difference between high-fence and fair-chase hunting?

Accepted Answer

A high-fence hunt takes place in a contained, heavily wooded enclosure. Fair-chase is a traditional pursuit — where those rules apply, no enclosed area, vehicles, or radios are used while tracking. Rules vary by hunt and by law, so please confirm the current rules with us before your trip.

Question 4

How does a high-fence hog hunt work?

Accepted Answer

You will hunt within a contained, heavily wooded enclosure alongside a guide, typically from a blind or by spot-and-stalk depending on conditions and your preference. Your guide covers safety, boundaries, and the plan for the day before the hunt begins. Exact setups vary, so confirm the details for your dates with Joe Kennedy.

Question 5

Can a guide help me judge hog size in the field?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our guides help you assess hogs in the field — size, trophy potential, and whether the animal is a good shot opportunity — before you decide to take it. The final decision is always yours, and no harvest can be guaranteed.

Question 6

Is hog hunting safe?

Accepted Answer

Safety comes first on every hunt. Our guides provide a safety and boundary walkthrough before you head out, cover safe firearm and bow handling, and stay with you in the field. Hogs are wild animals, so we ask every guest to follow guide instructions closely. Please confirm current safety requirements with Joe Kennedy before your hunt.

Question 7

What is included in a day hunt?

Accepted Answer

A day hunt is $300 per person and includes a guided hunt with a guide covering safety, boundaries, and the plan for the day. Lodging and meals are not part of a day hunt. Availability, current inclusions, and any add-ons should be confirmed with Joe Kennedy when you book.

Question 8

What is included in the weekend package?

Accepted Answer

The all-inclusive weekend trip is $500 per person and includes rustic cabin lodging and two meals, along with your guided hunt. Cabin availability and current package details can vary, so confirm what is included for your dates with Joe Kennedy.

Question 9

Can you accommodate groups?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our rustic cabins accommodate groups of up to 11 guests and include two bathrooms, two showers, a bunk room with three bunk beds, and another bedroom with three beds. Call to confirm availability and current group details.

Question 10

What happens after a harvest?

Accepted Answer

Guides help confirm and track a clean harvest. Cleaning, skinning, and quartering may be available for an additional fee, so the meat is packed, iced, and ready for your coolers. Please confirm current processing availability and fees with Joe Kennedy.

Question 11

Do I need hunting experience?

Accepted Answer

No prior experience is required. Our guides provide a safety and boundary walkthrough, explain what to expect, and help select a method that fits your comfort level. First-time hunters are welcome — just let us know when you reserve so we can plan accordingly.
